The added pedal-assist motor lets you ride longer distances with less fatigue.
What is the difference between a gravel e-bike and a road e-bike?
Road e-bikes are optimized for smooth pavement - lighter, narrower tires, and a more aggressive racing geometry. Gravel e-bikes have wider tire clearance (typically 38-50mm), a slightly more upright riding position, and more robust components suited to off-road riding. Many riders find gravel e-bikes more versatile for Canadian conditions, where roads range from chip-seal to packed gravel.
Are drop bar e-bikes legal in Ontario and Alberta?
Yes. Drop-bar e-bikes sold at Amego EV qualify as power-assisted bicycles (PABs) under Ontario and Alberta regulations - motor assistance limited to 500W and 32 km/h, no throttle required. They are legal on roads, bike lanes, and multi-use paths where regular bicycles are permitted. Riders must be 16 or older and are not required to have a driver's license or insurance.
